To choose the right closure or accessory, it is important to find out the neck size of your jerry can. We are happy to help you with the help of the information below. If in doubt, you can always contact us.
Non-stackable jerry cans
Non-stackable jerry cans (1 to 5 litres) are provided with an SK38 neck by almost all manufacturers. In this case, the opening of the jerry can has an external diameter of 38mm.
Stackable (UN) jerry cans
For the stackable (UN) jerry cans, you can first look in the screw cap when you have it available. This often contains a code such as NR / OV 45, 51, 61, 71 which is the DIN neck size of the jerry can. If there is no code in the screw cap, or if you do not have it available, it is best to measure the diameter of the opening of the jerry can. Always measure including thread.
DIN45: 44.5mm external / 35mm internal
DIN51: 53.5mm external / 43mm internal
DIN61 / S60x6: 60mm external / 48mm internal
DIN71: 71mm external / 58mm internal
Steel fuel canisters
Steel fuel canisters generally have the same bayonet fitting. The pouring spouts from different manufacturers are therefore usually perfectly interchangeable. However, older productions sometimes have a wider filling opening.
Other jerry cans
Manufacturers of other jerry cans, such as plastic fuel jerry cans or jerry cans with a tap for food, almost never use the same neck size. If you are looking for a closure or accessory for these jerry cans, it is best to look at the brand of the jerry can.
